Louis Berger Services is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill positions for the MV Electrician on multiple sites in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP 5.


    • Major duties and responsibilities:


      o   Serve under the direction of the Power Plant Supervisor, Power Plant Manager, and Electrical Utilities Manager to operate and maintain all low and medium voltage distribution networks and power plant electrical equipment, electrical distribution equipment, and train other electricians/apprentices.

      Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on electric power control equipment, distribution lines, distribution panels, transfer-switches, substations, or electric-generating equipment in accordance with BS 7671, NEC, and local host nation and installation codes.

      o   Promote and maintain safety following established safe work practices and procedures.

      o   Assist the Power Plant Supervisor in the location and rectification of faults on the underground high voltage networks during power interruptions.

      o   Assist electrical teams or line crews to perform routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on high voltage switchgear, distribution networks, diesel power generators, or other electrical equipment as directed, to include solar/photovoltaic arrays, solar inverters, and UPS systems.

      o   Work on power cables, transformers, insulators, and control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels. This includes collecting transformer oil samples that are tested for contamination as well as cleaning up contaminated sites

      o   Install and connect transformers and make hot taps and splices

      o   Assist the utility crew to install underground cable, conduit, and ductwork. String lights and power wires on cross arms and through ducts and manholes; make electrical connections; and splice cables

      o   Perform rigging on high voltage motors, transformers, and compressors;

      o   Use and maintain various hand and power tools of the trade

      o   May assist in the operation of aerial trucks and associated equipment.

      o   Inform the Power Plant Supervisor of the location of a failure, possible cause, and repairs required on the Distribution Network.

      o   Ensure correct testing and isolation procedures are followed before working on de-energized electrical networks or associated systems.

      o   Execute the company’s policy and procedure for proper and efficient operation of the power plants and distribution network;

      o   Abide by and adhere to all requirements in General Order #1 in conformity with US military standards and practices;

      • Installs specified new or reconditioned parts, makes required adjustments, and reassembles complete unit.
      • Transports and properly disposes hazardous materials to HAZMAT collection point.
      • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and executes the work.
      • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
      • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment and ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times by all employees.
      • Promotes teamwork and actively participates in quality improvement process.
      • Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations, performs other duties and activities as directed.
      • Responds to emergency calls regarding power generation equipment breakdowns and unit outages.
      • Ability to interpret and apply required corrective action with data readings and results of equipment checks to identify equipment or process problems and take appropriate responses to correct or resolve problems.
      • MAXIMO experience or other digital CMMS software experience would be an advantage.


Essential qualifications:

o   Experience in the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance of Low and Medium Voltage Distribution Networks and associated Hardware and Switchgear.

o   Experienced working in international work environments in an expatriate or US military status

  • Proactive nature and strong interpersonal skills in collaborating, communicating and working with (1) other senior managers and staff (to include Home Office management team), (2) Local and International subcontractors; and (3) local officials as required
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED plus related technical training.
  • Valid drivers’ license from home of record.
  • Must provide copies of training certificates
  • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards for electrical and mechanical trades, related safety practices, and skill required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of power generator systems and equipment.
  • Must know Lockout/Tagout Procedures.

 Desirable qualifications:

o   Experience in providing prime power O&M Services to clients;

o   Experience in installing and maintaining high voltage electrical distribution network

o   Experience in fault finding and rectifying in Underground and Overhead Distribution Networks.

o   Experience with Synchronized Diesel Power Generators.

  • Experience training teams from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Prior LOGCAP experience would be an advantage preferred.


Years of experience:

o   5 years working as a licensed electrician


Level of English required:

  • Fluent


Working Environment

  • Duties will involve work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months.
  • Must be able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods.
  • Scheduled work hours up to 72 hours per week.
